goin’ back

yep that’s right we are heading back to texas.

not permanently just for thanksgiving. the kids and ben are all out next week so we will be taking off tomorrow afternoon. i think i am in denial about getting the house and everybody’s clothes ready. lol.

we are driving to ft worth and sopping at my sister’s before we head to my in laws lake house in comanche.
then on to austin after the weekend where i will see my sister in law and the kids will hang with the cousins. my mother in law is a nurse and has to work on thankgiving day so i am sure we will have a early thanksgiving with them then swing by my sisters again to have thursday’s dinner with them and my parents and her in laws.

and then hopefully, and i am sooo excited about this, see my good friend dionne who just got settled into their new house in fate, tx on friday as we head home. did you read that dionne? you better be at your house on fri. lol.

so that’s our whirlwind thanksgiving travel log. oh yeah and gas is almost $3 a gallon too, who thrilled am i about that. we be picnicking the whole way.

i realise that my grateful challenge has fallen rather short this week. to tell you the truth too many people were irritating me this weekend to really make me want to be grateful. and then i would have felt like i was posting just to post and forcing the gratitude and it wasn’t real…yada yada yada.

but this week i did realise something i was grateful for.

ben built the kids a new swing set, and no this isn’t about him. he was one of the ones irritating me so i am not ready to put him in this category yet. lol. i am grateful for the swing. it could have been any swing it was just that was the one i happened to be on.

anyway…. eegads such blathering today. ugg

i was swinging with luke the other day trying to teach him how to do it himself. and i just started swinging. swinging like i was 7 years old again, swinging like i could fly over the top or rocket to the moon. i closed my eyes and felt the dizzying weightlessness of the back and forth motion. and everything melted away.

so i am grateful for swings.

how long has it been since you’ve tried to fly to the moon on a swing set? try it.

  1. I love swinging… but, due to my motion sensitivity, I usually end up sick if I do it for too long!I was dog-sitting in Southwest Little Rock (for my parent’s) earlier this week, and there was a fatal shooting at one of the gas stations @ baseline & geyer springs. The good news? The next day, gas was much cheaper than on my side of town, <>and<> I was at my 10cents off credit at Kroger, so I filled up my tank for $2.89 a gallon! Yeah for bright sides!

  2. Swinging rocks. I would always sneak onto the swings with my kids (my class, not imaginary personal ones – ha) when the other teachers weren’t looking.I am SOOOO excited about my box! 🙂 Y’all have a safe trip & have fun.

  3. I love reading your blog, my friend. Hope you guys had a good trip to TX. Sorry I just got to reading this. I was pretty busy anyhow, but coffee might have worked out. We have our long drive at Cmas – to Tucson. Fun fun. Any words of advice from a seasoned travel mom? It’ll be 15 hours… straight. ps. Swings rock! Great escape when you can’t really go anywhere.
