i mentioned the 25 bags for phoebe’s christmas party that i was putting together. well they didn’t want them filled with candy but the real dilemma was making them inexpensive for my benefit but at the same time i didn’t want to fill them dollar store crap that’s probably going to be recalled anyway. so i put on my crafty christmas thinking cap (which is just about tapped out at this point), and got to thinking. if you heard a lot of loud squeaking over the weekend don’t worry it was just my brain trying to work.
so this is what i came up with, and i do believe i have fulfilled my handmade pledge for the holidays in this one endeavour.
i made little bags filled with reindeer food. i just loved this image of santa feeding rudolph i thought it was very appropriate. and of course the reindeer food poem is on the back. the only thing i spent here was for the small bags that i found at hobby lobby. they are the small ziploc kind crafters use for jewelry i think. and i got like ofer 200 of them for $3 and only used 25 so no big bucks there. and of course the oatmeal and glitter i already had.
these pins i think are my favorite. i’ll have to come up with other themes for them. all from ribbon and fabric i already had. i spent maybe $2 on the safety pins. and they really didn’t take all that long to put together. i may have to make few more and give as gifts.
and lastly…. is that really a word? anyway….. at the bottom of this picture you can see the rep paper with the old world santa printed on them. those are the covers of small little coloring books. i found coloring pages online and made them fit 4 to a page of computer paper. there are 8 different images in them with the cover of santa on the front. they aren’t quite finished yet. i still have to secure them together. i was going to punch 2 holes in the top and run ribbon through them but all i have is a single handheld hole punch. and that a lot of punching so ben i supposed to bring home a stapler from school today. yes i have one but its still in a box i have yet to open. these were my highest ticket item with $4 for the red card stock and $5 for the copies of the coloring pages at the copy place.
i plan on just putting them all in some cellophane bags i have and sending them on with phoebe. i hope the kids like them. i feel that they are more special that a bag a of sugar or plastic junk.
see i’m not really that much of a grinch. lol. 🙂
